Dash Cam Won’t Turn On: Common Causes

A camera that will not power on is usually a power-delivery problem rather than a dead camera. Check the simple things before assuming the worst.

Check the power path

Inspect the cable, adapter, and connection for damage or looseness. Try a different cable or socket to rule out a faulty accessory.

Check the fuse

On a hardwired install, a blown fuse cuts power entirely. Confirm the fuse on the camera’s circuit is intact and the ground connection is solid.

Reset and assess

Try the reset button and remove the SD card in case a corrupt card halts startup. If nothing works, the internal supercapacitor or battery may have failed.
