First-Time Dash Cam Setup Checklist
A few minutes of setup prevents the most common dash cam disappointments. Run through this checklist when you first power up a new camera.
Prepare the storage
Insert a high-endurance card and format it in the camera itself, not on a computer, so the file system matches what the camera expects.
Configure the basics
Set the correct date, time, and time zone, choose your resolution, and enable GPS and the G-sensor if the camera has them.
Align and verify
Center the view with a level horizon, then record a short clip and play it back to confirm the framing, exposure, and audio are what you want.
