How to Install a Rear Dash Cam

Adding a rear camera is mostly about routing a long cable neatly. The mounting itself mirrors the front, with a couple of extras to plan for.

Mount the camera

Place the rear camera high and centered on the back windshield, within the defroster and wiper area if your car has a rear wiper. Keep it clear of tint bands that could blur the view.

Route the long cable

Run the cable along the headliner from front to back, down a rear pillar, and to the camera. Leave a small service loop near any tailgate hinge so the cable is not stressed when it opens.

Connect and align

Plug into the front unit, power up, and check the rear view is level and centered before finishing the cable tuck.
