Storage

How Much Storage Does a Dash Cam Need?

Bigger is not always necessary. The right card size depends on your resolution, whether you run one or two channels, and how much history you want before it loops.

Resolution and channels drive it

4K uses far more space than 1080p, and a second channel roughly doubles the write load. Higher settings mean you want more capacity to hold the same amount of time.

Think in hours

Estimate how many hours of footage you want on hand before old clips are overwritten. A daily commuter needs less buffer than someone relying on long parking-mode coverage.

A practical starting point

128GB is a comfortable default for single-channel 4K. Move up to 256GB for dual channels or extended parking recording, within your camera’s supported limit.
