Front and Rear Dash Cams Explained
Front and rear coverage answers two different questions about any incident. Understanding what each angle does helps you decide whether you need both.
The front channel
The front camera is the primary record: it captures what you drove into or what pulled in front of you, along with signs, signals, and plates ahead.
The rear channel
The rear camera documents the car behind you, which is essential in rear-end collisions where fault is often disputed. It also captures tailgating and parking incidents from behind.
How they work together
In a dual-channel system both feeds record simultaneously and are time-synced, so you can see the same moment from both angles. This combined view is far more persuasive than a single perspective.
